ARFID: diagnosis, distribution and distinctive features
In this talk Dr Bryant-Waugh will provide an overview of some of the key characteristics of ARFID presentations. She will discuss the origins and definitions of the disorder and highlight some of the current variability in the application of formal diagnostic criteria. Screening and assessment tools will be reviewed, to include the PARDI (Pica, ARFID, and Rumination Disorder Interview). Current estimates of prevalence of ARFID and ARFID-like presentations in general population samples will be discussed, alongside consideration of data investigating rates of ARFID in specific clinical populations. Information about common correlates and co-occuring conditions will be referred to, leading to closing thoughts about the gaps in our current knowledge and promising future directions.
